St John

Located to the East of the island, facing the Atlantic Ocean, St John Parish offers much in culture and beauty. Among the four architecturally stunning Anglican churches found in the parish is St John’s Anglican Church, which perched atop the magnificent Hackleton Cliff, showcasing panoramic views, has frequently been said to offer the most romantic setting on the island.

The Parish of St John is also home to Codrington College, a mixed sex  school of Primary and Secondary education, with an intriguing history, and one of the oldest buildings on Barbados. The college is currently open to the public and its meandering grounds offer a perfect picnic spot and opportunity to reflect on the sites rich past.

Villa Nova is yet another point of interest in the Parish. Constructed in 1834 from cut coral stone this expansive private estate which commands striking view across the East Coast is deemed one of the most unique developments on the island.
